About the Artist

Sigmund Kozlow studied painting at the National Academy of Design in New York and was awarded a Pulitzer Traveling Scholarship in 1936, enabling him to study at the Fountainbleau School of Fine Arts and École des Beaux Arts in France. His work has been exhibited at the Michener Art Museum, the National Academy of Design in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Philadelphia Art Institute.

In addition to receiving the Pulitzer Prize, Kozlow won several awards including the Wallace Truman Award for Landscape from the National Academy of Design in New York, top award from Montclair Museum of Fine Arts, and the popular prize from the Delaware Valley Artists Association.

Kozlow and his wife, Betty, maintained a studio-gallery in Rockport, Massachusetts for over twenty years. The artist had a lifelong interest in landscapes, and was enamored by the New England coast and its intimate harbors.
